The ILF celebrated its 5th Anniversary in a big way on 25th and 26th October 2007!

An ILF Party held on the evening of 25 October 2007 at the ILF villa itself started off the celebrations where many sponsors, lecturers, students and alumni members were present to join in the fun! We saw alumni traveling from all over the world (Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, China, The Netherlands, Ukraine, to name a few) just to celebrate this special event with us!!!

In view of the ILF’s upcoming move to the House of Finance next year, this event commemorates especially the first 5 successful years of the ILF’s history at its current villa location.

An excellent birthday present from the European Central Bank:

The European Central Bank presented the ILF with a wonderful birthday gift: Participants of the celebrations were invited to a Conference on “Legal Issues related to the Financial Markets” held at the ECB on the morning of 26th October 2007. We thank the ECB for this excellent gift!

Professor Hal S. Scott, Nomura Professor of Banking Law, Harvard Law School, Cambridge MA, delivered a very interesting lecture on “Competition in Financial Services between Europe and the United States”, and Professor Rosa Maria Lastra, Professor of International Financial and Monetary Law, Centre of Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary, University of London spoke enthusiastically about “Bank Crises Management”.

After lunch at Restaurant Fundus at the new Opera House, the participants could take part in sightseeing programs which have been specially organised for them.

Finally, an Alumni get-together organised by the ILF Alumni Association was held for all ILF Alumni and students - we heard that they had a great time catching up with each other at the celebrations!
