Academic Events
The Institute for Law and Finance, usually in cooperation with our sponsors, organizes a periodic series of larger public events, panel discussions and seminars on current topics related to the curriculum of the Institute. Given the current importance of these topics, our events attract significant public attention, not only within the academic community, but also among the broader public and media. The overriding aim of these special events is to encourage the ongoing debate of public policy issues in the field of finance and law. ILF students benefit directly from these events.

Conferences

The ILF also organizes conferences on many relevant and interesting topics. Past ILF events included an international conference on “Hedge Funds: Risks and Regulation” where prominent experts from the United States and Europe engaged in a broad debate of the fundamental issues of hedge fund regulations and the proposed new German and EU regulations regarding hedge funds and investment funds. In addition, the ILF hosted a number of conferences dealing with the reform of German legislation governing debt securities and the future of securities clearing and settlement. During these conferences, professionals from banks, law firms and universities in Europe and the U.S. provided comparative insights from the perspective of both theory and practice.
